  1. Help! Ive fallen and I can't get up.

Thanks for the advice guys I will take it to heart
  2. Practice, lifestyle, and personal preference

These replies are awesome and my brain will now explode! But before it does I would like to add my 2 Abraham Lincoln coins. I think that sin doesn't belong in tAoism and so there is no justification to say that anything man does can be judges by anyone other than man: also, look at the difference in lao tzu vs Chaung tzu. Very opposite in discipline vs carefree. So choose your path but remember one of the three treasures is Moderation
  3. Greetings!

Hello and welcome! So glad you found the path and choose to start walking it. I am new to this community as well but have been a Taoist for many years. One thing I think you will like about Taoism is that it doesn't really matter if you believe in God or not. For many Taoists, there is no creator God but for others, like myself, I feel as though God is everywhere. One thing I will say is that Taoism really cannot be achieved without understanding that the higher power is the Tao. Don't think of it as a man in the sky just that Love and the universe and CHI are God and that we are all connected to that one source. Some might disagree with me but that is the lovely loose nature of the TAO. Again, welcome my friend.
  4. Help! Ive fallen and I can't get up.

I could really use some advice guys and gals. One thing I have always prided myself on is my kindness and patience which I attribute to the study of the Tao but also just my personality. I could be in traffic with some guy on my ass who cuts me off and say "Wow, I hope he is on time to wherever he is in a hurry too. I could have someone at work constantly be rude to me or be ugly and I would still bless them with a genuine smile each day. Lately, however, I seem to be irritable, getting mad at little things people do, saying bad things or judging others, and so forth. When I hear that someone doesn't like me or talks behind my back I get mad at them and tell myself I shouldn't care because they are lower people or I point out their flaws. What is happening to my Tao, to my positive Chi. Is life starting to jade me. I am now thirty and have a great life but I am just loosing a lot of my good energy. HELP! P.S. I am so glad I found this site. It had really been helpful in relfection and knowledge of the Tao. Thank you ALL for allowing me to be an active member of this community.
  5. Taoists and relationships

Wow, thank you guys for your input! Maybe I'm just scared and I sometimes use Tao as an excuse not to get involved. But yes personal growth def comes out of relationships.
  6. Interpretations of Wu Wei?

Tricky tricky.... You say that labels have no meaning other than communication. But that seems so harsh... While I do agree with your judge and jury of the word label, I also want to stress the importance of the human language. While taoism may be deep you wouldn't have even learned about it if it were not for labels... Remember the first verse of the Tao te Ching... That's my word

  8. Interpretations of Wu Wei?

This is an excellent point you bring up about knowing taoism and believing in it. Wu Wei is an energy all of its own in my opinion. It is the potential energy that doesn't need be in action to be used. I also use to think I was so smart and cool cause I read the iching and Tao te Ching. It takes many years and dedication to really feel and understand Tao

  10. Interpretations of Wu Wei?

I think you have a great understanding of wu Wei. I believe that it is simply doing something without doing it or without trying to do it. Also, I think it would be wise for one to remember the balance of yin and yang and knowing the timing of when to advance and retreat. For knowing when to move and when not to I recommend the ICHING or book of changes in English. It is a little hard to follow but like anything else, with practice it can guide you through life's obstacles using wu Wei based on the yin and yang lines.
  11. Taoists and relationships

I got a question for all my fellow Tao lovers. Lao tzu spoke frequently of detachment and not wanting or desiring. Based on that, do you think it's wise for a Taoist or anyone for that matter to fal In love or get married? It seems to me that relationships of intamacy always end in heartbreak one way or the other.
  12. What defines a Daoist?

Wow! What an interesting topic. I love reading what other people's views of Taoism is. I don't really think you can label a Taoist because the first verse in the Tao te Ching says that true Tao cannot be defined. Taoism is just something you either get or you don't. I will say that in simple lamens a Taoist must be one with nature and did themselves of the ego. Personally I like to refer to the "password" prayer for the three treasures which is wu tai fo me la.
  13. Role call :)

Greetings my fellow taoists and those of other beliefs as well. My real name is Brandon and I have been a Taoist on the path for about 5 years now. I love the teachings of lao tzu and Chaung tzu. I am also very fond of marital arts mostly shaolin kung fu and qi gong. I am excited to be a part of this forum and learn new information as well as share my views. Thanks for taking the time to read
