About Me

Lots of changes since I first came to The Tao Bums.

I feel like I'm All of It and None of It, at the same time. Structure, even the mildest of Taoist structure, has been transcended. An awareness has emerged, an awareness where everything is grey, muddled, undifferentiated. My highest self is unopinionated and undifferentiating, when allowed to reign.

I sometimes experience a triangulation of inner knowledge - a triangulation where the three components of awareness must be assembled in balance before the insight can be Seen. The three components seem to be Outer Knowledge (the knowledge we obtain from the words and works of others, the multi-year reading process that we go through), Inner Knowledge (the dynamic of self-actualization or self-awareness), and the Ability to Quiet the Mind, which only came in my case after about 30 years of meditation.

The ability to Quiet the Mind, as Castaneda would say, is to stop the inner dialogue. To have control of whether you want thoughts to come in or not. Or whether you wish to stay in the Void, from a Taoist perspective. In any case, it allows us to act from an unopinionated viewpoint, when indulged, and brings about the clarity that most of us seek. Ego is sidestepped, once it is conquered. But that's another story.

The triangle seems to need all three components to work.
